President's Message

Our Community – Stronger Together

Did you know that being a member of Advancement Northwest links you to the 31,000-member strong Association of Fundraising Professionals international network? There’s a lot of us out there! According to a recent survey of AFP members, the top three reasons why members join are education, networking, and our code of ethics.

I have been involved with Advancement Northwest (and its former incarnations) for over two decades. Each year I recommit because of my talented and supportive fellow members and because I want to continue to learn and grow. This greater AFP network gives me opportunities to reach across the globe to connect with fellow fundraisers.

Membership definitely has its benefits and its options – choose remote learning with AFP’s national webinars that can be accessed wherever you are; or travel to San Antonio in late March to attend the AFP International Conference, the world’s largest conference for professional fundraisers; or attend one of our local monthly trainings and events where time to network is built into the program.

We learn from each other. I look forward to seeing you at one of these gatherings soon!

Asa Tate
2019 Advancement Northwest President

Programs to Attend this Month

Understanding the Relationship Management Cycle
Tuesday, February 26
4:30 p.m. Registration and Networking
5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Program

The donor relationship cycle seems simple, but as we all well know, relationships are complex. Jodie Miner, Vice President of Development and Major Gifts at Swedish Medical Center Foundation and an Advancement Northwest member, will walk us through the relationship management cycle to help us determine when we’ve successfully moved from one stage to the next. She will also lead a discussion about implementing strategies to bring donors through the cycle again and again.

Igniting Philanthropy Luncheon: Building a Fundraising Plan You'll Want to Keep and Use!

12:00 - 1:30 p.m. Program

For those of you in Northwest Washington, we encourage you to attend this luncheon with consultant Kris McRea. You’ll learn how to build a plan that works for your organization and then work through real life scenarios to get you primed to create a plan that fits your team and mission.
